CEI Landscape Inspector (Senior & Inspector) – ORLANDO, FL

Job Requirements:

A CEI Landscape Inspector (Senior & Inspector) will be responsible for performing technical assignments in construction field layout, plans reading and interpretation, quantity review and engineering computations, inspection of the landscaping construction work, and conducting field tests.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily Work Report (DWR) of Contractor’s field operations and inspections

  • Record quantities of materials received or used during specified periods in the DWR

  • Maintain a daily pay item quantities of construction activities

  • Electronic project ledger or field book preparation, update and documentation

  • Density log book preparation and documentation, if applicable

  • Assist with preparation of the Final Estimates or project closeout package

  • Measure distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of construction activity/layout

  • Verify work levels, alignment, and elevation of construction activity/installations

  • Observe and validate that workmanship, procedures and materials conform to plans and specifications

  • Obtain and prepare material samples for laboratory testing

Pre-Requisite Experience and Certification Requirements:

CEI Senior Landscape Inspector

·        High School Graduate or equivalent plus eight (8) years of roadway or commercial landscape construction experience, or a Bachelor degree in Horticulture, Urban Forestry, Landscape Architecture plus three (3) years of roadway or commercial landscape construction experience.

CEI Landscape Inspector:     

  • High School Graduate or equivalent plus three (3) years of roadway or commercial landscape construction and/or maintenance experience, or Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association (FNGLA) Landscape Technician Certification; plus, one (1) year of roadway or commercial landscape construction and/or maintenance experience, or a degree in a related field; plus, one (1) year of roadway landscape construction and/or maintenance experience.

 Individual must also meet the following general requirements:

  • Skilled at plant identification, classification, and grades and standards for nursery plants as established by the manual “Grades and Standards for Nursery Plants” by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

  • Knowledgeable of current Florida Department of Transportation methods for landscape and irrigation installation.

  • Ability to read and interpret contract documents.

  • For standalone landscape projects, required certification and training includes FDOT Intermediate MOT, FDEP Stormwater Erosion and Sedimentation Control Inspector, and Florida Licensed Landscape Architect or Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association (FNGLA) Certified Landscape Contractor.

  • Desired certification and training include; International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist, University of Florida Landscape Palm Management Training, and International Society of Arboriculture Advanced Pruning.

  • Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors

  • Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history required

  • Ability to work in a team environment and execute assignments independently

  • Position requires a minimum of 40 hours a week and possible overtime.

Knowledge, Skills and Assessment:

  • Exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems

  • Execute specific tasks and assignments from the Senior Inspectors and/or Project Administrator during all phases of the project

  • Responsible for preparing and maintaining documentation for monthly and final estimates during the construction project duration
