Job Description:
The Project Engineer - Assistant Project Manager is responsible to assist the project team to ensure projects reach a successful completion. This job position also provides technical engineering information to the project team ensuring the construction work complies with the contract documents, plans and specifications, engineering standards and building codes
Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager Qualifications:
Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history required
Bachelor of Technology or Science Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical or Architectural Engineering)
Experience in Construction Management or Three years of experience in Civil Construction Management
Associates Degree + Five years in civil construction management/field experience
Preferred Licensing: FDOT Advanced Maintenance of Traffic, FDOT CTQP QC Manager, Earthwork & Asphalt Paving Level 1 & 2, OSHA Certification, CPPR training, USACE CQC training
Must have experience with FDOT activities, sequence and methods including, earthwork, drainage, utilities, pavement operations, lighting, signalization, ITS and concrete flatwork
Proficient with Microsoft (MS) Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and MS Teams
Proficient in Primavera P6, MS Project, Bluebeam, a plus
Project Engineer - Assistant Project Manager Responsibilities:
Ability to collaborate with a fast-paced team in an aggressive construction environment
Execute assignments independently
Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
Assistance with bids and analysis cost and overhead distributions
Creating subcontract agreements for Project Manager approval
Prime contract and subcontractor change orders for Project Manager approval
Perform daily reports, monitor daily work activities for production and schedule tracking
Create and manage pertinent construction documentation such as submittals, RFI’s, change orders, notifications and correspondence
Coordination and detailed planning with the General and/or Project Superintendents
Strong written and verbal skills pertinent in developing and maintaining Clients, Owner, Subcontractor and Vendor relationships
Ensure proper completion of equipment return/receipt reports and assign proper equipment cost codes
Obtain, evaluate, submit and track all project submittals
Daily tracking of contract quantities or pay item production
Calculation of weekly and monthly billable amount
Monitoring of project budgets and analysis of variance trends
Preparation of monthly estimates or pay applications for Project Manager approval
Accurately track, maintain, report counts of materials used, and on-hand required
Review of QC reports and test results
Project Engineer - Assistant Project Manager Physical Requirements: The essential functions of this job position includes operation of a vehicle, travel as needed, sitting, standing, walking, climbing, reaching, bending, trunk movements, lifting minimum of 45 lbs., carrying, pushing/pulling, low level work, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking.
