A² provided engineering construction management services for the Miami-Dade Department of Environmental Resource Management (DERM).  The scope of work included services for the repair of infrastructure damage as a result of severe flooding that occurred during Hurricane Irene in October 1999 and another storm in October 2000.  We were also responsible for implementing hazard mitigation projects to reduce flooding and related property damage in the future.  The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the State of Florida’s Department of Community Affairs (DCA) and Miami-Dade County Stormwater Utilityauthorized funding for Miami-Dade County to address these damages.  As the construction managers, A² was responsible for overseeing and coordinating the work of design consultants, surveyors and construction contractors.
