Marlin's Ballpark

Our firm provided preconstruction services for the Marlins Ballpark Project when M.A. Mortenson Company was originally selected to build this Major League Ballpark. The project consisted of the ballpark, parking facilities, and related infrastructure. The plans included a retractable roof and natural grass facility with approximately 38,000 seats. The parking lot consisted of at least 2,000 surface parking spaces and one or more garages providing approximately 2,800 spaces.


Lake Eola

Lake Eola Park is a 43 acre park located in downtown Orlando. The park offers 0.9 mile loop around the lake, a café, interaction with animals, playgrounds, swan boats, and beautiful scenery. They also have an amphitheater. The project included drainage, site regrading, hardscape, landscaping and irrigation. The landscape portion of the project included procurement of trees, shrubs and ground covers. These were gathered through collection from the private residence, relocation from within the park, nurseries, tree farms and contract growing. The irrigation system was a multi-zoned system of rotor, pop-up and shrub heads managed by controllers.

Legacy Park

A² Group, Inc. provided site development and construction of a 9.75 acre site in Venice that is named Legacy Park. The scope of work included site grading, restroom facilities, three (3in) 24' x 24' square picnic pavilions, five (5) 2-Pole shelters, a kayak/canoe launch with washing station, parking areas with driveway and access isles including portions with pervious pavement, multi-use trail, walkways/sidewalks, storm water facilities, wetland enhancement/restoration, landscaping, lighting and park recreational features.

Miami Beach Program Management of Infrastructure Improvements

A² Group, Inc. provided our services for the Program Management of the Miami Beach Infrastructure Improvement Projects. The contract focused on fourteen neighborhoods including Biscayne Point, North Shore, Normandy Shores, Normandy Isles, La Gorce, Oceanfront, Nautilus, Bayshore and Sunset Islands, Flamingo/Lummus, West Avenue/Bay Road, South Pointe, Star Island, Palm & Hibiscus Islands, and Belle Isle. Program elements included citywide water and stormwater improvements, as well a variety of streetscape enhancement projects including landscape, pavement, sidewalk, decorative lighting and target hardscape enhancements. This was a Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) award-winning Right of Way Improvement Program. The services included scheduling, field inspections, cost management, quality surveying, estimating, claims analysis and avoidance, constructability review, and design reviews.

Puerto Rico National Cemetery

A² Group, Inc. had a contract with the Department of Veteran Affairs for the Design/Build and Development of the Burial Area-Crypt Installation at Section NN of the Puerto Rico National Cemetery. The cemetery is situated on 108.2 acres of which 77.31 were being developed, the cemetery accommodates casketed and cremated remains. We were responsible for providing all labor, materials, tools, equipment, and design-build services necessary for the design and construction of approximately one thousand, five hundred and ninety-eight (1,598) double depth pre-placed crypts, and installation of gravesite control monuments. An engineered drainage field was installed under the pre-placed crypts. Gravesite control monuments were placed after the crypts were installed. In addition, we were responsible for the manufacture, delivery, off-loading at site, and all additional material costs associated with the production of a one thousand, five hundred and ninety-eight 1,598 double depth polymer crypt system for general construction. The crypt system consists of concrete slab/footing,  CMU walls, and double depth polymer crypts with concrete lids. 

South Florida National Cemetery

A² Group, Inc. had two contracts with the Department of Veteran Affairs for the development of the South Florida National Cemetery in West Palm Beach, Florida.  The first contract was for the Fast Track Area. The work included the development of 57 acres on a 313-acre unimproved site, a committal shelter, entrance drive, administration and maintenance complex and trailers, burial areas containing 5,535 traditional grave sites and 5,204 sites for the in-ground interment of cremated remains, flag-assembly area, site signage and furnishings, grading, drainage, well installation, irrigation system, exotic plant treatment, tree relocations, general utilities, landscape and hardscape features, enhancement and preservation of existing wetland and uplands habitat. As part of the USACE and SFWMD permit requirements, we restored an existing wetland to its preexisting conditions. This entailed removing of exotic plant and providing proper mitigation procedures to restore the wetland area.  Permit conditions required the protection of certain fish and wildlife resources such as gopher tortoise, eastern indigo snake (drymarchon corais couperi), and a nesting bald eagle. The first contract was completed three months early (April 2007). The second was completed two months early (April 2008). 

American Airline Arena Practice Court

A² Group, Inc. provided engineering, procurement, erection and construction management of the structural steel long span joists, metal decking, structural roof reinforcements, mechanical platforms and catwalks at the practice court. The practice court is a complex super elevated trapezoidal building. The structure is narrower (76’-4-1/2”) and lower (El. 63’-4”) on the west side and wider (94’-11”) and higher (El. 81’-4”) on the east side.  The ground level of the facility is a parking garage. This project was completed two weeks ahead of schedule. Our services included estimating, construction, cost control, safety program, value engineering, scheduling control, document control, material procurement, construction inspections, and quality control.


Florida Marlins Founder's Suite & Marketing Center

A² Group, Inc. provided construction management services to the Marlins for the Founder’s Suite/Marketing Center that is part of the Marlins Stadium in Miami, Florida.  The Marketing Center is a special office where clients are able to view the construction and mock-up of the ballpark.  They are also able to see how the stadium suites will look, as well as all parts of the state-of-the-art facility. It is a full sales and marketing center that opened in the spring of 2010.  This project was completed ten days early. 

Port of Miami Seaport Redevelopment

A² Group, Inc. provided construction management services for the Haskell Group at the Miami Seaport Redevelopment Project, which encompassed both the cruise and cargo zones. The scope of work included programming, design and rehabilitation of cruise terminals and support infrastructure, and ancillary services. This project used fast-track programming, multiple phases and other methods to achieve this complex program. The services required overall coordination services during planning, permitting and construction phases.


Palmetto Bay Library, Community Center, and Ludovici Park

A² Group, Inc. provided Construction Management at Risk Services to the Village of Palmetto Bay for a new 11,000 sq ft building, which consisted of a library, community center, and Ludovici Park. The construction consisted of a new two story building with the library, a built-in amphitheater on the first level and a community center on the third level. The scope of work included new underground water, fire, sewer and drainage utilities, cast in place concrete, precast concrete joists, masonry, wood trusses, standing seam metal roofing, storefront windows, elevator, HVAC system, fire alarm system, new asphalt parking lot, striping, signage, landscaping and irrigation system.


MIA South Terminal Expansion

The South Terminal Program was a major expansion to the former terminal configuration and consisted of eight major projects, including the MIA South Terminal Expansion, MIA Terminal South/Terminal Improvements, Concourse J, H-J Utility and Pavement Project, Concourse H modifications for International Gates, Concourse H International Head house Demolition and Construction, and MIA H Terminal Improvements and H-J Sewer and Related Work. A² provided construction management services including scheduling, cost management, quantity surveying and estimating.


Eastbound Auxiliary Lane along SR 836

A² provided CEI services and design management and construction of an eastbound auxiliary lane along Dolphin Expressway (State Road 836), from West of Northwest 57th Avenue to Northwest 42nd Avenue. The project included an outside auxiliary lane construction with bridge widenings at Northwest 57th Avenue, Tamiami (C-4) Canal, ITS relocation, milling and resurfacing, ramp modifications, guardrail installation, drainage improvements, retaining wall systems, lighting and signage modifications.


SR 836 Modifications at 87th Avenue

A² provided CEI services for the SR 836 Interchange Modifications at 87th Avenue for Miami Dade Expressway Authority (MDX). The scope of this project included the reconstruction of the SR 836 Mainline and NW 87th Avenue Interchange to enhance the mainline and existing ramps, improvements to the NW 87th Avenue and NW 12th Street. There are seven new bridges including a new flyover ramp that provides direct connection from westbound NW 12th Street to westbound SR 836. In addition, the scope involved the construction of noise barriers, MSE Walls, signing and pavement markings, lighting, drainage, utility coordination, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) infrastructure, landscaping, and a new bicycle path along NW 12th Street. There was also Infrastructure for the permanent electronic toll facility located on the eastbound ramp from NW 87th Avenue to SR 836.


Public Safety Center at MM63

A² Group, Inc. provided construction oversight services for the Collier County Public Safety Facility at MM63 off of I-74. This project was a design-build project with an emphasis on environmental sustainability, which ultimately achieved LEED Gold Certification. Construction included spread and continuous footings, reinforcing steel, Cast-In-Place concrete and masonry, Waste Water Treatment and Water Treatment Plant, and associated site work. Unique elements of the building consisted of firefighter bunk rooms, Florida Highway Patrol offices, common area kitchen and living space, High Bay Garage for fire trucks, showers/restrooms, high security IT room and an exercise room. This project also brought with it continual coordination between the FDOT, Collier County, and the National Park Service who were all stakeholders.


Boggy Creek Interchange

A² Group, Inc. provided construction, engineering and inspection services on the SR 417/Boggy Creek Interchange in Orlando for the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX). This project encompassed 2.98 miles of construction along SR 417 mainline. The SR 417 Interchange at Boggy Creek provides connection to the South Access Road of the Orlando International Airport (OIA). The project included the widening and construction of seven bridges including three post-tensioned concrete box girders flyovers and the MSE wall panels.
